I often get asked if essential oils can help with Hay Fever. The answer is yes they can but it is important to note that Hay Fever can affect people in different ways, and what works best for you is often a case of trial and error.
That said here are some essential oil suggestions that you may find helpful. If you can try to diffuse the essential oil (whether this is in a diffuser, bath or over a bowl of hot water) as diffusing and inhalation will relieve your symptoms quicker
ROSEMARY essential oil contains a compound called cineole which helps to break down mucus and also reduces inflammation and pain. It also helps you to focus which can be a saviour if you are feeling groggy.
PEPPERMINT/EUCALYPTUS is brilliant for dealing with congestion and inflammation. It helps get rid of those irritating pollen particles which can really irritate your mucus membrane. It gives a cooling sensation from the menthol it contains which can really help.
LAVENDER is a natural anti-histamine. It’s antimicrobial, antiseptic, calming and can also relax your breathing. Followers will know that I am a big fan
I like to use a combination of all three of these. A couple of drops each of Rosemary, Peppermint and Lavender really works for me. I find I need antihistamine less and my life is a lot more pleasant as a result
